Monestime: A photo exhibit celebrating the life of  Canada’s first elected black mayor

Fifty years ago, on January 1, 1964, Dr. Saint Firmin Monestime made history when
he took office as Mayor of Mattawa, Ontario. Already noted as the first Haitian to
practice medicine in Ontario, Monestime achieved another first, becoming Canada's
first elected black mayor. We invite you to celebrate and discover more about
Dr. Monestime's remarkable and inspiring life.
